I bought this book on a whim nothing else took my interest in the book shop. From turning the page I was hooked. I have a very strong Irish back ground . The more I read the more I sunk into the book. It felt as I was being pulled into the pages. Half way through I felt I had a mad bond with Rose.It is well written and very well put together. If you buy one book this year let it be this one.For her family in Wexford, my heart goes out to you. No one to fight Roses corner for her. Forced into a marriage that her brother arranged. And why ? all because she had a baby out of marriage. To prevent more shame on the family her brother arranged the wedding over a pint. Other family members to frightened to help her. The very short life she lived and what she went through will provoke the thoughts of a saint.
